Home Remedy for Piles

Hemorrhoids, more popularly known as piles, can be described as a condition where the veins around the anus or lower rectum swell or get inflamed. It is due to this that a person faces difficulty in passing stool. Piles can be dry as well as bleeding. Even dry piles can result in bleeding, if they continue for a long time. There are two types of piles - internal piles, not seen but felt, and external piles, visible around the exterior of the anus region. Increased pressure from the internal or external veins can be one of the reasons of piles. Some other causes include low fiber diet, pregnancy, aging, hereditary factors, chronic constipation and anal intercourse. Piles can be treated using some home remedies as well. Read on to know some natural ways of curing hemorrhoids, or piles, at home.

Incidences – Piles is very commonly seen nowadays. Women have higher incidence than men. The reason behind it is not clearly known. It is more commonly seen in adolescent age group and aged persons who all seem to be more tensed. There must be a relation between piles and tension/psychological factors. Its incidences is more common in persons who deviate more from nature in diet, living style and sitting habits. Sufferers are mostly

* Long sitting travellers
* Sedentary workers
* Alcoholics and those who suffer from liver disorders
* One who suffers often from constipation or diarrhoea

Anal architecture - is designed in such a manner to control even the release of air (flatus) and watery stools i.e., airtight and leak-proof. It is well-formed with internal sphincter and external sphincter muscles. Anal canal is anatomically divided into two parts (namely upper part and lower part) by Hilton’s line (bluish pink ring). This upper anal part originates from the endoderm and is covered with mucous membranes. The nerve supply of the upper part is supplied from the autonomic nervous system which doesn’t have any pain sensitive nerve fibres. The lower part of the anal canal originates from ectoderm and is covered by skin. Unlike the upper part, it is supplied by spinal nerves which have pain sensitive nerve fibres. The blood supply to upper part of the anus is supplied by superior haemorrhoidal plexus and the lower part is supplied with inferior haemorrhoidal plexus. The occurrence of swelling/varicosity in the anus (piles) is more common in 3 O’, 7 O’ & 11 O’ clock position of anus which are all supposed to be weak points of the anus.

Types - Piles is classified in two ways.

Internal piles - lies inside the anus. Usually internal piles originates from superior haemorrhoidal plexus of the upper part of anal canal and lies above the Hilton’s line. This type usually will not be painful, since it lies in the upper part of anal canal, which lacks pain-sensitive nerve innervations.

External piles - lies outside the anus. External piles originates from inferior haemorrhoidal plexus of the lower part of the anal canal i.e. it lies lower to the Hilton’s line. This type of external piles is most painful, since the lower part of the anal canal has pain-sensitive nerve fibres. Some piles patients may have both types. Piles can also be classified as

Symptoms – Symptoms of piles usually vary according to the type and place of origin. Piles in its initial stages is most commonly found to be without any symptoms. It is often noticed after constipation and abrasions. As said earlier internal piles are usually silent except rarely bleeding, but the external piles mostly produce a lot of suffering/symptoms. Internal piles, when get prolapsed or protruded, produce symptoms like external piles.

The most common symptoms of piles are

  • Feeling a lump or discomfort in anus
  • Frequent ineffectual urge for stool without passing stool or without satisfaction of complete evacuation. Even after passing stool, they will not feel any satisfaction, since the bulge of the blood vessels (pile mass) give the sensation of impacted faecal matter in anus.
  • Bleeding from anus - Mostly pile mass bleed as bright red blood in drops just after defecation, but sometimes blood may splash over the toilet pan making the sufferer panic about the loss of blood. Sometimes it may just stain undergarments.
  • Pinkish or bluish colour swellings protrudes from anus like bunch of grapes
  • Pain - Piles mass will usually have a burning or stabbing or throbbing type of pain which often makes the person restless and doesn’t allow them to sit and relax. They may also have a sensation of having thorns or glass pieces in anus while sitting.
  • Itching of anus.
  • Mucus discharge or oozing/leakage of faecal matter from anus, since anus could not be able to close so tightly due to pain.
  • Strained and frequent urination
  • due to irritability of anus with the contact of expanding, filling bladder.
  • Prolapsed or protruded piles often become thrombosed and become hard tender external mass.

Diagnosis – Piles can be easily diagnosed by examination of the anus with finger palpation and proctoscope. The prolapsed internal piles and external piles are easily visible and can be diagnosed on the spot. Sentinal piles – a natural skin tag/knot which guards the extension of fissure - is often misunderstood as pile mass by many patients.

Complications of untreated piles are - bleeding, infection, prolapse, strangulation, necrosis and gangrene. Painful bleeding usually indicates startup of complications.

MANAGEMENT

  • Take rest and avoid long walks, long distance travelling and cycling
  • Take plenty of water and follow regular bowel habits to avoid constipation and strain
  • Use Indian style toilets since squatting position will be a better position for pain and natural defecation
  • Follow hygienic measures in cleaning and caring
  • Pass stool twice a day to avoid dry hard stool and strain to rectum and anus
  • Never suppress an urge. Go for stool whenever there is a call since it is passed on easily
  • Don’t strain to evacuate hard faecal matter. Take time in toilet for a natural descend or try enema or stool liquefiers. It is better to have semisolid stool for easy defecation
  • Take proper treatment for cause of pile mass, if it is of secondary to any other disease
  • Sitz bath – Before passing stool, sit in a shallow bath tub of warm water for 10-15 minutes to relieve the anal spasm and relaxation of anal sphincter. This method also pacifies all painful anal conditions
  • Ice application is advised, when there is constant bleeding
  • Take easily digestible, simple cooked foods. Avoid spices and chillies
  • Take foods containing greens, ginger, onion, garlic, radish, berries, beet root, bitter gourd which helps in healing piles.
  • Take plenty of fruits and juices especially papaya, mango, lime, jambul, cherry, figs, etc.
  • Vitamin E and zinc supplementation can be taken for better healing.
  • Avoid sedentary habits, alcohol, smoking and unnecessary drugs like pain-killers.

General treatment – Mostly, piles becomes better with water, dietary regimen and correcting the constipation. Anyway, care for blood loss should also be taken to avoid anaemia.

Things to Consider for Your Bucket List

Create Your Bucket List

If you don’t have a bucket list, I highly recommend you to create one. How much does it cost? Probably 30 minutes to an hour, or more if you get really caught up in the writing . What do you gain? Significant clarity and focus on what you want from your life. It’s an invaluable exchange.

If you already wrote your bucket list before, take the opportunity to review it. See if there are new items you want to add-on. If so, add them in. Check if all the items listed are still relevant. If not, remove them.

If you are curious, you can check out my bucket list before you start off
Now, take out your pen and paper or open up a text editing document.

Start writing down what comes to mind as you read these questions:

* What if you were to die tomorrow? What would you wish you could do before you die?
* What have you always wanted to do but haven’t done yet?
* What will you do if you have unlimited time, money and resources?
* Any countries, places or locations you want to visit?
* What are your biggest goals and dreams?
* What do you want to see in person?
* What achievements do you want to have?
* What experiences do you want to have / feel?
* Are there any special moments you want to witness?
* What activities or skills do you want to learn or try out?
* What are the most important things you can ever do?

Bucket List

Last week I came across for motivational movies from internet and found The Bucket List (2007) is one which as the best line. I watched the movie and inspired to write this article.

This movie is all about Two terminally ill men escape from a cancer ward and head off on a road trip with a wish list of to-dos before they die.

The bucket list, it is a wish list of all the goals you want to achieve, dreams you want to fulfill and life-experiences you desire to experience before you die.

Why Create a Bucket List?

Why have a bucket list? If you don’t live your days by personal goals and plans, chances are you spend most of your time caught up in a flurry of day-to-day activities. Ever feel your days are passing by without any tangible output to speak of? What were your accomplishments in the past 3 months? What are your upcoming goals for the next 3 months? Look at the things you did and the things you’re planning to do next – Do they mean anything to you if you are to die today? Having a bucket list reminds you of what’s really important so you can act on them.

Even if you frequently live by goals or to-do lists, they are probably framed within a certain social context e.g., performance, career, health (Read Gold, Silver and Bronze Tasks on how to create effective to-do lists). A bucket list opens up your mind to set totally context-free goals where you list down anything and everything you ever wanted to do, no qualifiers needed.

It’s just like planning ahead all the highlights you want for YOUR whole life. Even though goal setting is already my staple activity, I still found many new things to do while I was writing on my bucket list. It was an incredibly insightful exercise. What’s more, coming up with the list it gave me a whole new layer of enthusiasm knowing what’s in store ahead!

The objective of creating a bucket list isn’t to instill some kind of a race against time or to create aversion towards death. I don’t see our existence to be limited to just our physical years on earth – I see our physical lifespan is but a short speck of our entire existence which spans across an infinite amount of time. The whole point of a bucket list is to maximize every moment of our existence and live our life to the fullest. It’s a reminder of all the things we want to achieve in our time here, so that instead of pandering our time in pointless activities, we are directing it fully toward what matters to us.

Description: APJ Abdul Kalam's autobiography depicts an extraordinary life: a child born into a little-educated family of boat-owners in Rameswaram---a small pilgrim town in Tamilnadu---who grew up to lead India's space research and missile development programmes, and emerged as one of the most important scientist-leaders of our time. Wings of Fire is a powerful story of courage and belief, as much an individual journey as the saga of independent India's search for scientific and technological self-sufficiency

Gandhi A Very Short Introduction

Title: Gandhi - A Very Short Introduction

Description: In Gandhi, a short introduction to Gandhi's life and thought, Bhikhu Parekh outlines both Gandhi's major philosophical insights and the limitations of his thought. Written with extensive access to Gandhi's writings in Indian languages to which most commentators have little or no access, Parekh looks at Gandhi's cosmocentric anthropology, his spiritual view of politics, and his theories of oppression, non-violent action, and active citizenship

Beware Of Ants, A Serious Message, Must Read

Please read this and advise your friends and family! You may save others' lives!

Incident One: A little boy died because surgeons found ants in his brain! Apparently this boy fell asleep with some sweets in his mouth or with some sweet stuff beside him.

Ants soon got to him and some ants in fact crawled into his ear which somehow managed to go to his brain. When he woke up, he did not realize that ants had gone to his head....

After that, he constantly complained about itchiness around his face. His mother brought him to a doctor, but the doctor could not figure out what was wrong with him. He took an X-ray of the boy and to his horror; he found a group of live ants in his skull. Since the ants were still alive, the doctor could not operate on him because the ants were constantly moving around. The boy finally died. So please be careful when leaving food stuff near your bed or when eating in bed. This might attract ants. Most importantly,

NEVER you or your child eat sweets before going to bed. You or your child might attract ants while you are asleep.

Incident Two: Another similar incident happened in a hospital in Taiwan . This man was warded in the hospital and was constantly warned by the nurses not to leave food stuff by his bedside because there were ants about. He did not heed their advice. Ants finally got to him. His family members said that the man constantly complained about headaches. He died and a postmortem or autopsy was done on him. Doctors found a group of live ants in his head. Apparently, the ants had been eating bits of his brain. So friends, better be safe than sorry. Never leave food stuff beside your bed you when you go to sleep.

Please forward this to your friends and relatives.

What life is about

A Long time ago, there was an Emperor who told his horseman that if he could ride on his horse and cover as much land area as he likes, then the Emperor would give him the area of land he has covered. Sure enough, the horseman quickly jumped onto his horse and rode as fast as possible to cover as much land area as he could. He kept on riding and riding, whipping the horse to go as fast as possible. When he was hungry or tired, he did not stop because he wanted to cover as much area as possible. Came to a point when he had covered a substantial area and he was exhausted and was dying. Then he asked himself, "Why did I pushed myself so hard to cover so much land area? Now I am dying and I only need a very small area to bury myself."

The above story is similar with the journey of our Life. We push very hard everyday to make more money, to gain power and recognition. We neglect our health, time with our family and to appreciate the surrounding beauty and the hobbies we love to do. One day when we look back, we will realize that we don't really need that much, but then we cannot turn back time for what we have missed.

Life is not about making money, acquiring power or recognition. Life is definitely not about work! Work is only necessary to keep us living so as to enjoy the beauty and pleasures of life.

Life is a balance of Work and Play, Family and Personal time. You have to ecide how you want to balance your Life. Define your priorities, realize what you are able to compromise but always let some of your decisions be based on your instincts. Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of Life, the whole aim of human existence. So, take it easy, do what you want to do and appreciate nature. Life is fragile, Life is short. Do not take Life for granted. Live a balance lifestyle and enjoy Life!

Always speak the truth...

This incident happened to me during my practical exams...It was the day of my Botany practicals...After spending a lot of time discussing about botany over samosas and cold drinks in the canteen I and my group members headed towards the lab unsure of our fate...

We were to see a specimen under the microscope and write about it..about its feeding habit..its habitat..its life cycle ....etc

I was the fifth to go..I looked and looked but could not see anything...I adjusted the microscope but still no result....I came back to my seat entirely confused of what to be written...

Then suddenly I had a brain wave..I remembered that during the practical classes we were shown a type of fungi which was transparent and could not be seen under a simple microscope...So I wrote all about it as neatly as I could do giving the best diagrams and underlining all the important points...After an hour all of us submitted our papers...

We did a round table conference while our teacher corrected the papers..To my relief everyone had written about the same specimen except one girl who had written nothing as she could not see anything...We laughed at her...

Soon our papers had been corrected and Mam told that except for one girl all of you have scored no marks..That was such a shock..Soon Mam explained.."This was just a personality test.Soon all of you would be standing on your own to face this world with no guidance..That is when truth will remain your friend forever. In no situation you should ever leave truth's hand...Whatever you feel tell it ..Learn to express yourself...Now stop gloating and get prepared for the real tests"

We all proceeded to do our experiments with the teacher's words in our head..I will surely never forget them..The Golden Words....

The power of holding hands.

I was sitting on a beach one summer day, watching two children, a boy and a girl, playing in the sand.

They were hard at work building an elaborate sandcastle by the water's edge with gates and towers and moats and internal passages. Just when they had nearly finished their project, a big wave came along and knocked it down, reducing it to a heap of wet sand.

I expected the children to burst into tears, devastated by what had happened to all their hard work. But they surprised me. Instead, they ran up the shore away from the water, laughing and holding hands, and sat down to build another castle.

I realized that they had taught me an important lesson. All the things in our lives, all the complicated structures we spend so much time and energy creating, are built on sand.

Only our relationships to other people endure. Sooner or later, the wave will come along and knock down what we have worked so hard to build up. When that happens, only the person who has somebody's hand to hold will be able to laugh.

Interview with God

I dreamed I had an interview with God.

"Come in," God said. "So, you would like to interview Me?"

"If you have the time," I said.

God smiled and said: "My time is eternity and is enough to do everything; what questions do you have in mind to ask me?"

"What surprises you most about mankind?"

God answered: "That they get bored of being children, are in a rush to grow up, and then long to be children again.

That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health.

That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live neither for the present nor the future.

That they live as if they will never die, and they die as if they had never lived..."

God's hands took mine and we were silent for while and then I asked... "As a parent, what are some of life's lessons you want your children to learn?"

God replied with a smile: "To learn that they cannot make anyone love them. What they can do is to let themselves be loved.

To learn that what is most valuable is not what they have in their lives, but who they have in their lives.

To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others. All will be judged individually on their own merits, not as a group on a comparison basis!

To learn that a rich person is not the one who has the most, but is one who needs the least.

To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love, and that it takes many years to heal them. To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.

To learn that there are persons that love them dearly, but simply do not know how to express or show their feelings.

To learn that money can buy everything but happiness.

To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it totally differently.

To learn that a true friend is someone who knows everything about them and likes them anyway.

To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others, but that they have to forgive themselves."

I sat there for awhile enjoying the moment. I thanked Him for his time and for all that He has done for me and my family, and He replied, "Anytime. I'm here 24 hours a day. All you have to do is ask for me, and I'll answer."

Sometimes A Loss Can Be A Gain

Emptiness Becomes Openness

Sometimes A Loss Can Be A Gain

When we lose anything that we cherish, the sense of emptiness we are left behind with can be overwhelming. A space that was filled, whether in our lives or our hearts, is now a void, and the feelings of pain, loss, and separation can sometimes be difficult to bear. While it is always important to honor what we've lost, sometimes a loss can also represent a chance for a new beginning. When we are ready, the void left by a relationship, a job, or a dream can then be viewed as open space that can be filled with something new: new experiences, new knowledge, new job opportunities, new dreams, new people, and new ways to grow.

There are many ways to weave the threads of loss into a blessing. If you've lost a job or ended a relationship, your first thoughts may revolve around filling the void with a similar job or the same kind of relationship. Try not to rush into anything just to fill up the emptiness. The loss of a job can free you up to explore new opportunities, especially if you've outgrown the old one. Likewise, the loss of a relationship can give you a chance to rediscover your own interests, explore new passions, and meet different people.

If seeking the good in what seems like a bad situation makes you feel uncomfortable, then try to remember that you are not devaluing what you've lost or replacing it cold-heartedly. You are surrendering to the fact that, in life, we sometimes have to let go and allow for what is new to enter into the open spaces created by our losses. In doing so, you are honoring what has left you and welcoming the new into your life with open space, an open mind, and an open heart.

What do you think?

Life is a series of problems

The problems you face will either defeat you or develop you -- depending on how you respond to them. Unfortunately most people fail to see how God wants to use problems for good in their lives. They react foolishly and resent their problems rather than pausing to consider what benefit they might bring. Here are five ways God wants to use the problems in your life:

1) God uses problems to DIRECT you. Sometimes God must light a fire under you to get you moving. Problems often point us in a new direction and motivate us to change. Is God trying to get your attention?

2) God uses problems to INSPECT you. People are like tea bags . . . If you want to know what's inside them, just drop them into hot water! Has God ever tested your faith with a problem? What do problems reveal about you?

3) God uses problems to CORRECT you. Some lessons we learn only through pain and failure. It's likely that as a child your parents cold you not to touch a hot stove. But you probably learned by being burned. Sometimes we only learn the value of something... Health, money, a relationship . . . By losing it.

4) God uses problems to PROTECT you. A problem can be a blessing in disguise if it prevents you from being harmed by something more serious. Last year a friend was fired for refusing to do something unethical that his boss had asked him to do. His unemployment was a problem -- but it saved him from being convicted and sent to prison a year later when management's actions were eventually discovered.

5) God uses problems to PERFECT you. Problems, when responded to correctly, are character builders. God is far more interested in your character than your comfort. Your relationship to God and your character are the only two things you're going to take with you into eternity.

EIGHT LIES OF A MOTHER!!(A true story)

1. The story began when I was a child;
I was born as a son of a poor family.
Even for eating, we often got lack of food.
Whenever the time for eating, mother often gave me her portion of rice.
While she was removing her rice into my bowl,
she would say "Eat this rice, son. I'm not hungry".
That was Mother's First Lie

2. When I was getting to grow up,
the persevering mother gave her spare time for fishing in a river near our house,
she hoped that from the fishes she got,
she could gave me a little bit nutritious food for my growth.
After fishing, she would cook the fishes to be a fresh fish soup,
which raised my appetite. While I was eating the soup,
mother would sit beside me and eat the rest meat of fish,
which was still on the bone of the fish I ate.
My heart was touched when I saw it.
I then used my chopstick and gave the other fish to her.
But she immediately refused it and said "Eat this fish, son.
I don't really like fish."
That was Mother's Second Lie.

3. Then, when I was in Junior High School,
to fund my study,
mother went to an economic enterprise to bring some used-matches boxes that would be stuck in.
It gave her some money for covering our needs.
As the winter came,
I woke up from my sleep and looked at my mother who was still awoke,
supported by a little candlelight and within her perseverance she continued
the work of sticking some used-matches box.
I said, "Mother, go to sleep, it's late,
tomorrow morning you still have to go for work.
" Mother smiled and said "Go to sleep,
dear. I'm not tired."
That was Mother's Third Lie.

4. At the time of final term,
mother asked for a leave from her work in order to accompany me.
While the daytime was coming and the heat of the sun was starting to shine,
the strong and persevering mother
waited for me under the heat of the sun's shine for several hours.
As the bell rang, which indicated that the final exam had finished,
mother immediately welcomed me and poured me a glass of tea
that she had prepared before in a cold bottle.
The very thick tea was not as thick as my mother's love,
which was much thicker. Seeing my mother covering with perspiration,
I at once gave her my glass and asked her to drink too.
Mother said "Drink, son. I'm not thirsty!".
That was Mother's Fourth Lie.

5. After the death of my father because of illness,
my poor mother had to play her role as a single parent.
By held on her former job, she had to fund our needs alone.
Our family's life was more complicated. No days without sufferance.
Seeing our family's condition that was getting worse,
there was a nice uncle who lived near my house came to help us,
either in a big problem and a small problem.
Our other neighbors who lived next to us saw that our family's life was so unfortunate,
they often advised my mother to marry again. But mother,
who was stubborn, didn't care to their advice,
she said "I don't need love."
That was Mother's Fifth Lie.

6. After I had finished my study and then got a job,
it was the time for my old mother to retire.
But she didn't want to; she was sincere to go to the marketplace every morning,
just to sell some vegetable for fulfilling her needs.
I, who worked in the other city, often sent her some money to help her in fulfilling her needs,
but she was stubborn for not accepting the money.
She even sent the money back to me.
She said "I have enough money."
That was Mother's Sixth Lie.

7. After graduated from Bachelor Degree,
I then continued my study to Master Degree.
I took the degree, which was funded by a company through a scholarship program,
from a famous University in America .
I finally worked in the company. Within a quite high salary,
I intended to take my mother to enjoy her life in America .
But my lovely mother didn't want to bother her son,
she said to me "I'm not used to."
That was Mother's Seventh Lie.

8. After entering her old age,
mother got a flank cancer and had to be hospitalized.
I, who lived in miles away and across the ocean,
directly went home to visit my dearest mother.
She lied down in weakness on her bed after having an operation.
Mother, who looked so old, was staring at me in deep yearn.
She tried to spread her smile on her face;
even it looked so stiff because of the disease she held out.
It was clear enough to see how the disease broke my mother's body,
thus she looked so weak and thin.
I stared at my mother within tears flowing on my face.
My heart was hurt, so hurt, seeing my mother on that condition.
But mother, with her strength, said "Don't cry, my dear.
I'm not in pain."
That was Mother's Eight Lie.

After saying her eighth lie, She closed her eyes forever!

EAGLES IN A STORM

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks?
The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it.

The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm.

When the storms of life come upon us - and all of us will experience them - we can rise above them by setting our minds and our belief toward God. The storms do not have to overcome us. We can allow God's power to lift us above them.

God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that bring sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives. We can soar above the storm.

Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down, it is how we handle them.

In front of the person you love, you tend to get shy.

But
